10 Fun Facts about our Gourmet Popcorn

Time for some super special Popcorn Shed facts! We've assembled a list of things you may or may not know about our brand and our gourmet popcorn range, to give you a little bit of insight on what we do and how we started our business. Let's POP to it!

1. We use a special kernel called a Mushroom kernel for our gourmet popcorn.
What is a mushroom kernel? It’s shaped like a baseball instead of what’s known as butterfly popcorn which is commonly seen in cinemas. The mushroom kernel is perfect for our gourmet popcorn because it is easier to coat evenly with our fresh caramel base or cheese paste. This way we get the most flavour on every kernel to ensure high quality and great tasting popcorn in every bite!

2. We make a fresh batch of caramel or cheese paste with each production run.
Instead of spray-on or powder coatings, we always use a fresh batch of coating, whether it's our caramel base or cheesy base for our cheese flavours. This way we get our popcorn extra fresh and crunchy for you to enjoy!

3. All of our popcorn is made from the finest natural ingredients
At Popcorn Shed, we care about giving all our customers the best popcorn with high-quality ingredients. We don’t cut corners or substitute ingredients. Instead, we use fresh, real produce to give our customers. We truly want you to have a gourmet experience for you and your loved ones to enjoy. Popcorn Shed dedicates itself to perfecting popcorn treats associated with joy and happiness. Our flavour and quality is our priority. 4. Popcorn Shed is a family business
Sam and Laura are cousins and founders of Popcorn Shed. Operating out of our garden shed since 2016, Popcorn Shed is a home-grown, family-owned business - a Made in Britain artisanal brand.

5. Our shed cartons are sourced from sustainable forests
We care about sustainability and do all we can to ensure packaging that can ensure freshness while being conscious of our environmental waste. We continuously do research and conduct experiments to create more sustainable and environmentally friendly packaging and do everything we can to minimise waste.

6. We handcraft all of our popcorn in the UK
Our popcorn is made using an artisan cooking process. It’s ‘made to order' instead of mass-produced to ensure freshness and quality. Our handcrafted popcorn is perfect for gifts, picnics, lunch boxes, movie nights and more.

7. Popcorn Shed started out in a garden shed!
Popcorn Shed is a home-grown, family-owned business created in 2016. When we started out in Laura's mother's kitchen, we were soon banned to the garden shed because of all the mess we made. And we broke her hob... OOPS! That's why we came to call our business Popcorn Shed!

8. We’re Great Taste Award winners 5 times over.
Popcorn Shed is an award-winning family business and we are the UK’s first super-premium popcorn brand. We won a Great Taste Award for Salted Caramel, Berry-licious, Butterscotch, Say Cheese! and Mini Pop! White Truffle!

9. We’re the first popcorn company in the UK to release a cheese and caramel popcorn
