We all know January can be a very dark, dull and boring month. It's cold, grey, all December festivities are over and you're kind of falling into a black hole going back to work and school. 2020 has not been easy on any of us and this month does not make it any better! That's why we've put together a list of tips to stay motivated and get through this month a little easier.

1. Set small goals
We know every new year comes with new goals and resolutions, but new big tasks and amazing ideas can cause a lot of stress and lack of motivation. That's why it's important to set yourself small and realistic goals you can accomplish short-term. All of these small goals will lead to long-term success!

2. Use to-do lists
Next to setting small goals, we strongly recommend using to-do lists to write them down. This will help you stay organised and keep your head clear, massively increasing productivity. And let's be honest, how amazing does it feel when you get to cross off those small goals at the end of each day??!

3. Reward yourself
Have you been able to work for four hours straight without taking 6 coffee breaks? Did you finish half of your to-do list before lunch? Were you able to not get distracted by that colleague chewing his gum? Did you manage to actually leave that chocolate bar in your desk drawer all afternoon? Reward yourself! Whether it's snacking on some popcorn (we've got wonderful snack packs for exactly this purpose!), making a cup of tea, doing some (desk)yoga or going for a walk, we're sure you'll feel better and more energised afterwards, ready to take on the rest of your day!

4. Take breaks
Sure, your boss might not really like it if you were to take a 10-minute break every hour, but it is important to step away from your desk now and then. Stand up, walk around the office, step out for some fresh air, do some jumping jacks whilst waiting for the coffee machine to provide you with some fresh fuel or take the stairs to the top floor and back. We're sure you'll feel better afterwards!

5. It's okay not to be productive all the time
Everyone has days when you're just not feeling very productive or you're not able to give it your 100%. Just remember that you don't have to! Do the best you can, make sure you rest up and have some fun and come back tomorrow to give it another go!

6. Create something to look forward to
Next to work, school and other things that keep you busy during the day, make sure you have something to look forward to! Whether it's dinner with a friend, movie nights with the kids or some alone time with a fancy bath and some wine, make some space in your planner for those things too! It will definitely get you motivated to work through your to-do list to get to the fun stuff!

These are some of our best tips to get through January with a bit more fun and flavour. And remember, even though it might not look like it, January will pass too!
