Pear and Blue Cheese Popcorn Tarts
Summer isn’t over yet and these delicious tarts are perfect to serve at your next gathering with
friends and enjoy a lovely dinner al fresco. This recipe is a total winner and will please all the
cheese lovers! The pan-fried pears add a sweetness that contrast with the cheese and to top it
all off there’s nothing better than adding a generous handful of the newest gourmet popcorn
flavour: Blue Cheese. A creamy and rich flavour, highly addictive and so yummy that will take
your snack game to the next level!
Ingredients
(8 tarts approximately)
2 sheets of puff pastry.
4 pears (sweet variety).
Cheese.
Pine nuts.
Ghee.
Pure maple syrup.
Egg (to brush puff pastry).
Rocket leaves.
Popcorn Shed Blue Cheese gourmet popcorn.
Directions
Thinly slice pears lengthwise using a mandoline. Brush the slices with a little bit of lemon juice so they don’t brown quickly.
Melt a small amount of ghee in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add pear slices (you will need to cook them in different batches), add a splash of pure maple syrup and cook just until pears begin to brown. Set aside.
Preheat oven to 200 ºC and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
Roll out the sheets of puff pastry, poke a few holes with a fork and divide each sheet into four pieces; you will get approximately 8 tarts, depending on the size/brand of the puff pastry.
Add your favourite shredded cheese to each tart, put pear slices on top and brush the edges with beaten egg.
Bake until golden brown and right before serving decorate each tart with pine nuts, rocket leaves and a generous handful of Popcorn Shed’s Blue Cheese gourmet popcorn.
Tip: you can crush some of the popcorn and mix them with the rest. The more the cheesier! ;-)
